Topics your committee will address during the coming year

At the final meeting for the academic year, the following topics were generated as ideas to discuss at the first meeting for 24-25: E-bikes and E-scooters – updates on if the operations manual was adjusted; implementation of policies; addressing sidewalk use.

Accessibility/ADA compliance in constructions zones; examples were provided by committee membership regarding contractors parking in front of sidewalks with ramps, and help educate visitors on where it is appropriate to park.

Bionic Bus – there has been a 50% increase in ridership and there was not a downturn in usage during the spring semester.

What should we tell applicants for this committee regarding expectations of members (anticipated workload, existence of subcommittees, etc.)?The Parking and Transportation (P&T) Committee meets 6 months out of the year (3 Meetings in Fall and Spring Semesters). Our meetings run 90 minutes and we typically send out information that might add on an extra 30 minutes outside of the meeting. As a new member, it is preferred that review the meeting minutes from previous years to familiarize yourself with topics that have been discussed previously as some topics do carry forward to the next academic year. It is also helpful to review the Parking and Transportation website so that you are aware of all units within the Parking and Transportation umbrella. Your experiences on campus and the information given at meetings typically cover all you need to know but often there are terms you need to better familiarize yourself with, to fully understand it. The P&T Committee is meant to be a committee with active participation in discussions and bringing forward agenda topics. The committee membership will be asked for insight on what the campus community is talking about or is unsure about as well as be advocates for the work of Parking and Transportation staff to the campus community.
Does your committee have a website? If so, what is the URL?P&T Site: https://transportation.uiowa.edu/parking-andtransportation-charter-committee Charter Committee Site: https://president.uiowa.edu/parking-and-transportation-committee
What is your process for passing on previous agendas and minutes to the new committee chair(s)?Carrie Brus, Administrative Services Coordinator, Parking and Transportation, sends all agendas and minutes to the committee. Meeting minutes are also saved on the Parking and Transportation site listed above, as well as the annual reports.
